Services Offered

Oxford English Tuition offers the following services:

1. English Literature Tutorials through A-level- I can offer regular tutoring sessions to build students' skills in preparation for GCSEs or A-levels, or review intensives prior to important exams. I believe that tutoring ought to focus on building students' skills as thinkers and scholars, rather than simply teaching to a specific test. My goal will be to equip students to appreciate the beauty of a wide range of works of literature, far beyond GCSE or A-level training.

2. Philosophy Tutorials through A-level- As a philosophy minor at university, I excelled in rigorous courses focused both on the history of philosophy and on techniques of reading philosophical texts. Far too few students are equipped to engage with philosophical texts. I am therefore delighted to offer both assistance with test preparation and lessons focused on enriching students academically by building their philosophical skills.

3. Writing Tutorials- Expository writing is a fundamental skill for students of all disciplines and for all career fields. I have experience assisting students of a wide range of ages to develop their written communication. With younger students, I focus on developing vocabulary and practicing with projects such as the three-paragraph essay. For older students, I am delighted to help develop longer expository writing projects, strengthening mechanics and eloquence of expression, and perfect timed essays.

4. English Language Test Preparation- I have experience assisting students learning English to build their confidence in speaking, reading, and writing. Tutoring sessions can be tailored to prepare students for the TOEFL or other language proficiency exams.

5. Admissions Counseling for American Universities- As a graduate of a prestigious American liberal arts college, I have successful first-hand experience applying for university in North America. I am able to guide students through the admissions process, from choosing where to apply to polishing application essays and applying for scholarships.

6. SAT and GRE Test Preparation- American universities require applicants to demonstrate proficiency on the SAT or GRE examinations. I spent two summers during university helping students improve their SAT scores both through one-on-one tutoring and assistant teaching beginning- and intermediate-level classes. I am delighted to offer ongoing or intensive tutorial sessions for students interested in equipping themselves to achieve exceptional scores on these exams.

7. Manuscript Editing- I greatly enjoy helping others hone their written work. For students who do not wish to schedule regular writing classes or admissions counseling, or adult authors just looking for a second pair of eyes for a writing project or a job application, I am delighted to offer editing services for individual projects.
